Lead partner is Aquileia Foundation, the other partners are the City Museum of Ljubljana, the Institute for the Protection of Monuments of Sremska Mitrovica (Serbia) and the Serbian Institute for Archaeology.

The Aquileia Foundation, subsidiary of the Ministry of cultural assets and activities, of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, of the City of Aquileia, of the Province of Udine and of the Archdiocese of Gorizia, was born in 2008 to enhance the extraordinary archeological heritage of Aquileia, UNESCO site since 1998. The Fondazione Aquileia, not only deals with the managing and the maintenance of the given areas, it also promotes and finances research and excavation activities aimed at restoring artefacts and wants to give a new boost to the diffusion of knowledge towards a rich events and performances season, involving a wider curious public with a range of activities dedicated to all, from children to adults.

The institution Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana (MGML) was established in 2009 and amongst other comprises the City Museum of Ljubljana with the Archaeological park Emona.
The Institute’s mission is to record, collect, document, valuate, preserve, interpret, study and present tangible and intangible heritage relating to the history of the Ljubljana and its wider surroundings from the prehistory until the present day, to conduct pedagogic, andragogic and promotional activities concerning the Institute’s operations, and related vocational training. By holding exhibitions and compiling collections of museum objects, of archive and library materials and of other documentary materials, modern and contemporary works of art as well as contemporary art practices, the Institute provides access to public cultural goods and engages in international exchange.

The Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments Sremska Mitrovica, in accordance with its regional jurisdiction, takes care of immovable cultural heritage of Srem and the northern part of Mačva. The basis of work on the preservation of cultural heritage consists of recording, collecting of documentation, evaluation and proposing the decisions for the determination of immovable cultural heritage. In addition, the Institute works on projects, studies and protection studies, carries out conservation and restoration and archaeological works, but also provides assistance in spatial planning, establishes measures for protection, approves projects related to heritage conservation, as well as permits to export works of art abroad.

In Serbia, the Archaeological Institute of Archaeology was founded, at first as the part of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, which later became an independent scientific institution and took upon itself the task of gathering all the archaeologists from various institutions in the country, as well as, the coordination of the work on the basic problems of archaeology in Serbia. In this context, the Institute also took upon itself the issuing of “Strainer” as well as the organisation of the annual meetings of Serbian archaeologists. Thereby a great part of the tasks of the old Society was transferred to the Institute of Archaeology.
